Yep, my best friend is the reason I ended up in the wonderful world of weddings, surrounded by sparkles and lace! Back in 2015, she’d got the ring, the date was set and now we needed THE dress! Hoping to find a beautiful wedding dress without blowing the budget, the bride to be searched out a few places to visit across Bedfordshire and the surrounding areas…
First of all was a local bridal shop where a lovely lady referred to all the dresses as “she” and whilst there was a good selection to try, the environment just felt a little bit worn out and not quite the special experience we’d hoped for.
Next up was a bridal outlet based on an industrial estate. We walked in and were confronted with rails upon rails of bridal gowns. One of the first comments from the assistant was “We have lots to choose from, some of them are a little bit old fashioned…” – insert face palm here! Selection made, we headed into the changing room which turned out to be an empty office with a table in it. No mirror, nowhere to hang anything and as each one was tried on it became increasingly obvious there were lots of marks and flaws.
The search continued and this led us to a “traditional” bridal shop, with beautiful full priced wedding dresses and all the special touches and loveliness that come with them. A gorgeous boutique with helpful staff, a dress was found and fallen in love with but luckily it was on their sale rail!
After the above it really got me thinking why is there nowhere that combines lower prices, good quality and a private and personal experience? So from there Townhouse Bridal was born. I sourced some gorgeous gowns and had my first appointment based in my St Neots home, a townhouse of course, hence the name! From there the business blossomed, to the point where I needed dedicated premises. This led to the opening of my first boutique in Roxton, Bedfordshire in 2017, where things continued to develop and I took the plunge and made bridalwear my full time job.
Since then I am so proud to have won several awards within the wedding industry, as well as being named a Finalist in the Bedfordshire Business Women Awards 2019
Fast forward to the present day and the boutique is now bigger and better than ever, having moved to new premises in St Neots town centre in November 2019. The move seemed meant to be, as my fabulous recommended seamstress was also able to move in next door.
My ultimate aim has always been to make your experience a special one, with a relaxed environment and beautiful designer wedding dresses at discounted prices. Whether you’ve been in to Townhouse Bridal or are yet to book an appointment, thank you for letting me be part of your wedding journey!
