Recently Engaged… Now What?

Congratulations you two! This is going to be such an exciting time for you both but as there is so much to think about when planning your big day it’s not surprising that this is where stress can take over for many couples!

There are some fabulous wedding suppliers in the St Neots area, so who better to get advice from?! Based in Wyboston, Jennie Turnbull of Jennie’s Cakes & Catering shares some of her top tips on where to start with planning your perfect wedding…

“It is so easy to get wrapped up with wedding planning and wanting to have everything perfect for your big day. Spending all of your time looking at Pinterest, magazines and Googling every colour scheme under the sun. This is going to be one of the biggest days of your lives so here are a few pointers for things to make the planning process a little easier.

Firstly work out your budget and what you can really afford. If you can DIY then do it, this not only gives your wedding a personal touch and can sometimes cut down your costs, but it is worth getting quotes on everything as it may surprise you.

Both write down your ideas on what you would like, then compare and finally work out a compromise that you’re both happy with. After all you need to get used to doing this for your future marriage!

When it comes to the important things like location, photographer, wedding dress, cake maker and caterer do not cut corners. These are the areas of your wedding that will be noticed the most, by your guests and yourselves when looking back at photos and memories.

When you decide on the suppliers you want to use book them straight away, to ensure they are available for your date – it’s never too early! The finer details can usually be finalised once you know exactly what you would like, each supplier will be able to guide you on what decisions need to be made and when.

This will also be the time that everyone tells you what they had for their wedding and what you really must do for your day. Just remember it is OK to take into consideration opinions from family and friends, but this is your day not theirs.

Lastly, planning your wedding should be fun and exciting, so try not to get stressed over everything. Don’t let this take over your lives as you should still be enjoying date nights and all the other wonderful things about your relationship.”

Some fantastic words of wisdom there, thanks Jennie! Don’t forget to check out her Facebook page too and say hello!
