FAQ

What should I wear / bring to my bridal appointment? 
All you really need is your beautiful self! It can be useful to wear a strapless bra and to bring a pair of heeled shoes, but neither are essential. Please try to keep make-up to a minimum to help keep the dresses at their best.

Can I bring people with me to my bridal appointment?
A second opinion is vital so you’re welcome to bring people with you to help you make such an important decision – we’d recommend 2 or 3 as a maximum. Have a read of our blog post to understand why!

Do you buy/sell second hand wedding dresses?
Nope! All our gowns are either new, ex sample or discontinued lines, so nothing that has already been worn by another bride. If you’re looking to sell your wedding dress, we suggest trying www.stillwhite.co.uk

When is the best time to start looking for a wedding dress?
This is a tough one! We’ve answered this as best as we can in this blog post

Do wedding dresses fit the same as other clothes? 
Wedding dress sizing is different to that on the high street, so you may find you need a dress that’s one or two sizes bigger than you’d normally buy. It does however vary across designers and styles, so it’s really just a case of if you like it, then try it! Don’t get fixated on the size on the label – no one will be able to see it and all that matters is that you look beautiful on your big day.

Can you order the dress I want in my size or a different colour? 
Townhouse Bridal works on an outlet basis, which means we only have what you see in the boutique available. We therefore can’t order the same gown in a different colour or size. A seamstress however can reduce a wedding dress by around two sizes, so if a gown is too big it can be adjusted to fit you like a glove!

What wedding dresses will suit me? 
It’s really difficult to say what will suit each bride in advance. Everyone’s body is different and it’s often surprising how different a dress will look once it’s on. The best advice is simply to be open minded and try on different styles. Go on how the dress makes you feel, if you love it and don’t want to take it off, then it’s “The One” … even if it’s the opposite of what you thought you wanted!

Do I get to take my wedding dress home with me? 
Yes! There’s no waiting involved, once you’ve chosen and paid for your perfect gown for your wedding day it will be lovingly wrapped in a dress bag for you to take home there and then.

Can I think about it before saying “Yes to the Dress”? 
Of course! We will never ever push a bride into committing to a dress when she’s not ready to do so. The only important thing to remember is that because we usually only ever have one of each dress, if you don’t snap it up then someone else might!

What payment methods do you accept?
Payment can be made by cash, all major debit/credit cards (except American Express), bank transfer or PayPal. Funds will need to be cleared and the balance paid in full before you can take your wedding dress and accessories away. To keep our prices low, we do not currently offer payment plans.

Can you arrange alterations?
Whilst we don’t offer an in house service, we’ll be happy to provide details of experienced local seamstresses for any alterations you may need. Please note alterations are not included in the dress purchase and will need to be paid for separately, directly to your chosen seamstress.

Do you sell accessories?
Townhouse Bridal is a proud stockist of Bianco Evento veils and hoop skirts / petticoats. We also have a selection of jewellery and hair accessories from Richard DesignsLinzi Jay and Athena Bridal Jewellery for you to choose from, all of which are available to take away the same day.

Do you sell bridesmaid dresses?
Townhouse Bridal is solely dedicated to the bride-to-be and making her look and feel fabulous for her big day. We therefore don’t sell bridesmaid or flower girl dresses.
