So you’ve found The One to marry, but now have the dilemma of choosing The One to wear!
Committing to a wedding dress is such a big decision and it’s important to get it right. You’ll be looking back at your wedding photos for years to come and if you didn’t truly love your dress you’ll always regret it. You’ve probably looked at lots of photos online, maybe even tried a few different styles and fabrics, but with so many beautiful gowns how do you decide which is the right one for you?
When brides come for an appointment at Townhouse Bridal, I always give them what I call some “Alison Logic” for committing to a dress. There’s no science behind it, I’m simply a big one for feelings and truly believe in going with your gut instinct. With that in mind, these are my 3 tick boxes for saying Yes to the Dress!
1 – You need to feel COMFORTABLE
Perhaps you love the look of a fitted fishtail gown but find it too restrictive to walk in. Or you dream of being a princess in a full ball gown style but feel swamped in the layers of fabric. If that’s the case, then it’s not the dress for you! You’re likely to be wearing it for a long time, so if you suspect you’ll want to be changing out of it quickly then you need to keep looking … unless of course you splash out on a second dress for later in the day!
2 – You need to feel CONFIDENT
You know that feeling you get when you put on your best outfit and all of a sudden you’re holding your head up high with a huge smile on your face? That’s exactly what you should get from your bridal gown. Not only should you look incredible but you should feel a million dollars too! And don’t forget, if you feel like this in a changing room, imagine how much more amazing you’ll feel when you’re all dolled up with hair, make up and all the trimmings too!
3 – You need to feel like YOU
You’re going to be dressing up for your wedding day, but you shouldn’t feel like you’re dressing up in fancy dress or putting on a costume. It’s absolutely fine for your dress to be something that guests may never expect, but you need to feel yourself when you’re wearing it. Don’t try and model your look on something you’re not, you’re getting married because you found someone who loves you for you, so don’t be anything else!
So in summary, if you can tick off those 3 boxes, you’re on to a winner! Go for it!
P.S. Don’t forget if you’re a bride on a budget or who’s wedding date is fast approaching, the above absolutely still applies for you…you’re exactly who Townhouse Bridal was created for! Get in touch for an appointment to see if we can help find your dream dress!
